“To know that prevention means that a population, a people should have a culture of prevention. In Romania there is no culture of prevention. In vain we will do all kinds of programs, we will want to reach a certain coverage by screening, by vaccination, through other types of intervention if there is no culture.”said Rafila, according to Agerpres.
The statement was made at Health Forum III: Prevention is not expense, but an investment in health, an event organized by DC News Media Group.
The former Minister of Health believes that the screening itself is the result of a type of education that is addressed to people.
“I saw that now there are attempts to do a national screening strategy. The screening itself I do not know if it is the subject of a strategy, but it is, as I told you, the result of an education that is addressed to people and we have to think about who is addressed. They are healthy at the family doctor and, of course, to the adult population.“, Said the doctor.
“There must be a clear regulation”
Alexandru Rafila mentioned that the degree of 60% vaccine coverage is equivalent to the proportion of family doctors who do vaccination.
In his opinion, a regulation is required that if someone wants to vaccinate their child to the family doctor to do it.
“There must be a clear regulation in this regard, because if I want to vaccinate my child to my family doctor and he says «I do not do vaccinations to children»I don't think it's okay ”added Rafila.
“Doctors claim that in the funds they receive in primary assistance there is no money for prevention medicine”
Cătălina Poiană, the president of the College of Physicians in Romania, said that preventive medicine is an absolutely necessary condition, and preventive medicine and medicine prevention does not mean expense, but it means investment in health and that money can be exempted.
“In this way we reduce the illnesses and health costs. (…) Whenever I talk to family doctors about prevention activity, I always claim that in the funds they receive in primary assistance there is no money for prevention medicine and for prevention services. This prevention law has and budget has a budget. The question is: why the actual financing part of the preventive services to the primary assistance is not functional? ”said Cătălina Poiană.
“Human resource is needed”
Gindrovel Dumitra, the Secretary General of the Romanian College of Physicians, said that the rural area has a problem with aging and according to data, at this moment, over 40% of family doctors are over 60 years old.
“According to our calculations, at this moment the need to replace on family medicine would be over 1,000 for the next five years, but unfortunately this is the ability to prepare and especially the resource capacity that comes from behind, because we will not ignore the other specialties to bring a significant number of doctors here. activity until we manage to balance “explained the doctor.
The Secretary General of the College of Physicians in Romania is of the opinion that the motivation must also come for the medical staff, both to go to that area and to be able to participate in the prevention process.
“We need to discuss the ability, about the opportunity, the motivation of the service providers, not only in family medicine, but on all sectors of medical assistance, to provide preventive services “emphasized Dumitra
