Senate plenary will debate and vote on Monday, April 28, the simple motion entitled “The pension system-a game of white-black with the lives of our parents and grandparents”, inform the website of the legislative forum. The document was submitted last week by the leader of the Senatorial Group of Gold, Petrișor Peiu, and is signed by 45 parliamentarians: 28 from gold, 10 from SOS Romania and 7 from PO, notes Agerpres.
The signatories argue their request by freezing the pensions from the beginning of the year and deepening social inequities. They also claim the imbalances in the military pension system.
According to the text of the motion, a Romanian who works 42 years and pays total contributions of about 1.34 million lei only recovers 522,000 lei, if he reaches the average life expectancy. The rest of the money remain in the state account, accuse the signatories.
For a more fair pension system, the initiators propose the application of the indexing formula (inflation rate + 50% of the increase of the gross average wage), the elaboration of a new law of military pensions based on equity, the normalization of the special pensions by capping the non -communibutive part to the maximum 5,000 lei and the taxation of 95% that exceed the net salary.
“Romania cannot claim respect from citizens as long as they treat those who work and have worked a life with bureaucratic contempt and cynicism. It is time to return to simple principles: the law must be applied to all, equity is not negotiable, and pensioners are not a burden, but the living memory of honest work.
