Constantin Starîș, a deputy from the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), who applied again on the list of the patriotic block, participated, together with Igor Dodon, at the press conference after the closing of the ballot box.

The deputy, in the 8th position of the list of the patriotic block, spoke in Russian when he took the floor, and a journalist in the room asked to speak in Romanian, writes reality.md.

Starîşi replied that he can then talk to the Romanian journalist, but immediately Igor Dodon, the former president of the Republic of Moldova, the leader of the Pro-Rus block and rebuked the journalist: “To us, journalists usually listen to those who speak. I understand that colleagues outside the country.

The PSRM leader then invited Starîș to continue his speech, insisting that he would talk in Russian, and the journalist apologized for the intervention.

The “patriotic block” brings together three pro-Russian parties in the Republic of Moldova: the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), led by Igor Dodon, the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), led by Vladimir Voronin, and the Viitorul Moldova Party (PVM), led by former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev. The alliance was also part of the “Heart of Moldova” Party, led by the former Gagauziei, Irina Vlah, who was excluded by the central electoral commission (CEC) two days before the elections.

Moldovans voted on Sunday in crucial parliamentary elections, which will determine the country's path between Russia and the European Union. CEC started publishing the official results in real time shortly after closing the ballot boxes. Step, the pro-European party of President Maia Sandu, leads to the partial count with over 44.6% of the votes, in front of the patriotic block-27.8%.
