The event was political, it was organized by the party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which was founded by Vidja.

Allegedly, after the arrival of Vidzha crowd, “unknownly poured forward.”

According to one version voiced by TVK, the crush occurred due to the fact that someone began to throw stones, as a result of which people ran. There are other versions, in particular with turning off electricity. Some politicians referred to the omissions of the police and the local administration.
In a separate material dedicated to the incident, India Today wrote that Visja and his team knew about the threat of fan hype and crush. In particular, one of the closest assistants to Vyzhaya spoke about such risks in February 2024.
