Former candidate for presidential elections Călin Georgescu came on Monday night with a number of new details about his withdrawal from public life, announced in May, suggesting that a repositioning stage follows this issue.

“The fact that you are silent does not mean that you have retired. You do not surrender. You see how things are, you analyze carefully and act. There is no other way,” said Georgescu, in the show Marius Tucă Show, from Gândul.ro.

“I did not look with hatred before the opponents, but back with love at the Romanian people who suffer. This suffering is sad, but it also mobilizes you.

He also sent a message to his contestants.

“I would like to thank those who betray me for strengthening me. It is very nice when things are cleaned around you and you have only a handful of friends or a handful of brave, in my case, which I am very honored and very proud,” he said.

Asked if among those who betrayed him are close people, Georgescu replied: “Yes, I was betrayed by very close people.”

“If it hurt me? No, I did not hurt the betrayal. I was happy.

“The whole key was the deconstration that they have no connection with God. (…) All these attacks have their significance.

On May 26, Călin Georgescu stated, in a video message on Facebook, that he focuses “all his attention and energy on his family”, which he said “needs peace and especially health after this intense and tumultuous period.”

“The elections for the position of President of Romania in 2025 ended. With these, I chose to end my active involvement in the political process, considering that this stage of the sovereign movement has ended from my point of view. I want to emphasize that this choice is a personal one and does not involve any judgment on those who continue to support this case. Renating, but a responsible choice, made with respect for the people and understanding of the current situation ”, Georgescu said at that time.

“I now focus all my attention and energy on my family, which needs peace and especially health after this intense and tumultuous period. I choose to stay outside any party structure.
