– Today's alarm systems are sirens – said Dr. Dariusz Marczyński, advisor to the Minister of the Interior and Administration for strategic consulting in the field of civil protection and civil defense, which was held on Monday in Olsztyn and the Population Forum. Marczyński admitted that this system requires modification and adaptation to modern realities.

During the panel dedicated to civil defense, Dr. Marczyński admitted that the assembly of 4060 megaphones would start throughout the country next year. Their distribution of the Ministry of Interior and Administration agreed with the fire brigade. If necessary, messages will be broadcast by megaphones, e.g. about the need to evacuate or need to stay at home. The system is to be expanded with another megaphones.

– Such messages are needed not only in the event of attack threats, but also in the case of, for example, natural disasters. Money is secured for this – assured Marczyński. He added that thanks to this, information about threats is to go to people faster than today.

Another participant in this panel, Rafał Melnyk from the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Olsztyn, noted that nowadays alarm sirens are associated with cities with anniversaries of historical events, and in the villages with the fact that volunteer firefighters are called to the action. Panel participants recalled the event from a few days ago from Świdnik, where the match was not interrupted despite the inclusion of alarm sirens.

– This clearly shows that people are not taught to respond to alarm sirens, and that something should be done about it – emphasized Melnyk. In his opinion, alarm sirens could be turned on every day at a certain time, so that people get used to their sound, recognize it. “Then they may react when needed,” he said.

Panel participants also emphasized the need to conduct test escape exercises in schools or workplaces.

– It's not about scaring people, but about awareness of what to do in case of a threat. In Japan, children are taught from a young age what to do in the event of an earthquake and it is not scaring but education. We also need it very much – emphasized the rector of the University of Warmia and Mazury prof. Jerzy Przyborowski.

On Monday, the 1st Forum of Safety and Population Protection takes place in Olsztyn, which was organized by the City of Olsztyn and the Olsztyn University. Experts from all over the country and local government officials (PAP) participate in the meeting
