Former president of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, accuses that the current president Maia Sandu has “understood” that the government is prepared to cancel the parliamentary elections that take place today in the Republic of Moldova. In response, Igor Dodon said he was calling people for a peaceful protest on Monday, from 12:00, in front of the Parliament.

Igor Dodon made the statements in which he called the people immediately after expressing his vote, along with his wife, Sunday after 12:00.

“It is an important day for the Republic of Moldova. I voted for returning to normality, for the development of the Republic of Moldova, to stop the fear that has become a norm in the Republic of Moldova. People are afraid. When people are afraid of government.

He said that today “citizens of the Republic of Moldova can regain their country”, even if we “have a reduced vote” compared to the other elections.

Igor Dodon, asked by the involvement of Russia in the elections of the Republic of Moldova: “The West involved”

Igor Dodon claimed that “Maia Sandu has already stated that she can cancel the elections”: “This denotes the fear of government that loses power because they did nothing. I call for tomorrow to defend our vote. Tomorrow, at 12:00, I expect everyone in front of Parliament to protest peacefully.”

Asked about the involvement of Russia in elections, Igor Dodon did not refer to this subject, but used the time to accuse the West.

“I believe that citizens should not be afraid of anyone and express their vote freely. In this election campaign, the West has been involved, through organizations, Soros, through external visits and by direct call to vote on government. This is direct involvement in the elections in the Republic of Moldova,” said Igor Dodon.

Igor Dodon claims that “Maia Sandu has made it clear today that she is ready to cancel the elections. This means that I prepare a script similar to Romania, we know what was last year in Romania.”

“We have the ability to organize peaceful protests, we have shown this over the years,” said Dodon, asked by journalists about the possibility of violence in the demonstration.

Igor Dodon is part of the “Patriotic” block composed of socialists (led by Dodon), communists (led by another former head of state, Vladimir Voronin) and “Viitorul Moldova” (of former communist prime minister Vasile Tarlev, who led the government between 2001 and 2008).
