After Russia launched nearly 800 drones over Ukraine on Wednesday, it launched a massive new airstrike overnight with 675 drones and 56 missiles, according to the Ukrainian air force.

The main target of the combined attack was Kiev, where one person died and 31 were injured, according to a morning toll.

Moscow forces launched 3 Kinjal missiles, 18 Iskander ballistic missiles (12 shot down) and 35 X-101 cruise missiles (29 shot down), the Ukrainian Air Force said on Telegram.

The message said 15 missiles and 23 attack drones hit 24 locations, and debris from downed drones fell in 18 locations.

One person was killed and 31 injured in a major airstrike on Kiev, 48 hours after a ceasefire with Russia expired, local authorities said.

The city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said Russia had hit the city with “drones and ballistic missiles.”
AFP journalists heard several explosions during the night, as well as anti-aircraft fire.

The attack affected six neighborhoods of the capital, as well as six others in the surrounding region, according to military authorities.

“At 07:30, the toll is at least 31 injured, including a child. Unfortunately, one death has been confirmed,” the state emergency services (DSNS) sent on Telegram.

Several buildings were damaged, according to images taken by AFP journalists and the official balance sheet.

“Search operations are underway for people who may be 'trapped under the rubble of a collapsed high-rise building,'” according to emergency services.
