The incursion of Russian drones into Poland: the damaged house was hit by a rocket launched from a Polish F-16. President Nawrocki calls for explanations to the government

The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, asked for explanations to the Polish government after the newspaper “Rzeczpospolita” published an article according to which the roof of a house near the city of Lublin, which was damaged in the morning of the invasion of the Russian drones last week, would not have been destroyed by a drone, as it was. F-16 of the Polish army.
The National Security Office of Poland (BBN) said, in a message on the social network X, that “the president is waiting for urgent explanations from the government on the Wyryki incident.”
“It is the Government's duty to use all the tools and institutions to clarify this matter as soon as possible,” BBN points out, given that there is an institutional war between the Presidency and the Warsaw Government, whose leaders are from adverse political camps.
“It is not acceptable to hide the information. In the context of misinformation and hybrid war, the information that comes to Poles must be verified and confirmed,” BBN warned.
“At the same time, the president emphasizes that he was not informed in this regard, nor the BBN, and the issue was not presented and explained in the National Security Council,” says BBN, according to news.ro.
The National Security Office (BBN) is an body that performs the tasks entrusted by the President of the Polish Republic in the field of national security.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk reacted to the BBN's request, without revealing what actually fell on the house in the Lublin region. “All responsibility for the damage to the house in Wyryki is for the authors of drones, that is, Russia. The competent services will inform the public, the Government and the president about all the circumstances of the incident after the completion of the investigation,” Tusk wrote on the X. “Do not take the Polish soldiers!”
President Karol Nawrocki, recently invested and supported by nationalists, is in conflict with Donald Tusk, the center-right prime minister, but in the case of the incident with last week they left the divergences and were united to condemn Russia.
“A rocket from a F-16 of ours, which worked defective”
The newspaper “Rzeczpospolitan” published information on sources on Tuesday that the roof of the house in Wyryki, about which it was damaged during the intrusion of the Russian drones last week, was not destroyed by a downed drone, as it was initially said, but by a rocket launched from a F-16 system.
Last week, there was an unprecedented violation of the Polish airspace by Russian drones. Entire drones or their fragments were found in different locations in East Poland.
Most of the 17 drones found were so-called “drones” and did not cause damage, except for one case: in Wyryki Wola, near Włodawa, not far from the border with Belarus, where an “unidentified flying object”-as the Lublin Prosecutor's Office has called it-caused damage to a private house.
He damaged the roof and broke the ceiling. The owners survived, the owner of the building declaring to the press that he managed to leave the bedroom just before the metal debris falls into it.
According to the Polish newspaper, the prosecutor's office avoids pronouncing on what fell in Wyryki, prevailing that the investigation and expertise are still in progress, but Rzeczpospolitan sources within the most important state structures dealing with national security say that a rocket launched by a Polish F-16 aircraft, which was used to have a drone.
Defense Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk said last week that three drones were shot down by Polish and Allied aircraft – a premiere since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict – but did not reveal their location.
“It was an AIM-20 AIM-12 amraam rocket from our F-16, which worked defective during the flight and did not activate. Fortunately, it did not armed and exploded, because the safety mechanisms of the wick worked,” explained one of Rzeczpospolita sources.
The respective rocket is three meters long and a weight of over 150 kg, mentions the Polish publication.
