The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, and his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, had a meeting on Wednesday in the margin of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to the announcement made by Russia's Foreign Ministry.

Rubio seemed to confront him, asking for “stopping the killings” and asking Russia “to take significant measures to a sustainable resolution”, notes AFP.

Lavrov “emphasized the unacceptable character of the schemes promoted by Kiev and some European capitals aimed at prolonging the conflict,” said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the meeting between the two officials.

Trump loses his patience about Russia, says the White House

Also on Wednesday, US Vice President JD Vance warned that Donald Trump is losing his patience.

The statement was made in the context in which, on Tuesday, in the UN, in an unexpected change of attitude, President Trump suggested that Ukraine could not only regain the entire lost territory in front of Russia on the battlefield, but even take more.

Trump “does not feel that (Russians) put enough efforts on the table to put an end to the war … If the Russians refuse to negotiate in good faith, I think it will be very, very bad for their country,” Vance told North Carolina.

Donald Trump's attitude change was analyzed by The Guardian British publication, who notes that if the US president was serious about a Ukrainian victory on the battlefield would not only need additional economic sanctions, but also a much greater supply of American armament and probably a direct military intervention from the West.

Russia was forced to withdraw only in two periods, after the beginning of its large -scale invasion in Ukraine of February 2022: in the spring of that year, when it expanded too much around Kiev, and again in the autumn of 2022, when it was facing a similar problem in Herson and when the defense was weak in the Kremlin region, and then to launch a campaign.
