Carlos Alcaraz's debut (22 years old) at the Tokyo ATP tournament should have been a holiday reason for the US Open champion, but everything could be turned into a nightmare. The Spanish tennis player sucked his ankle under the eyes of thousands of fans, and the fear was large around the world number 1.

Carlos Alcaraz has lived complicated moments in his first Tokyo match against Sebastian Baez (24 years old). At the score of 2-2, on a service of Baez, Alcaraz slipped on the ground and, without falling, gave up the ankle. He shook a few steps and then fell to the ground, visibly affected, with a grimace, according to sportnieuw.nl.

The medical team intervened and needed time-out

Alcaraz scared those present, especially since his attitude seemed to lead to premature abandonment, after only 4 games.

The referee called the doctor and physiotherapist, and Alcaraz received the first care right on the ground. After a short massage and evaluations from the doctors, the world number 1 was able to get up and head to the bank.

The ankle was bandaged and Murcian could continue after a technical time-out, the match being stopped for several minutes. He finally returned to the match and thanked the opponent for the help offered.

Alcaraz managed a break and took over by 5-4, but the Tokyo match was interrupted due to rain. After winning the US Open, the Spaniard played at Laver Cup for Europe, in San Francisco, where he left for Japan.
