Jaqueline Cristian missed the qualification in the optimal at the Rome Tower

Diana Shnaider (11 WTA) and Jaqueline Cristian (74 WTA) met on Saturday, May 10, in the third round of the WTA 1000 Rome tournament. The Romanian was defeated with a double 3-6.

The match had a balanced start, both players managing to do their first two services. Finally, the inaugural set returned to the Russian, which produced two breaks, the first at 2-2 and the last at 5-3.

In the second act, Jaqueline Cristian started with a break, but failed to keep her service. The number three range of the set proved to be the most important moment of the match for the Romanian, which, unfortunately, although it benefited from four break balls failed to take advantage of them.

With the psychological advantage, the Russian took the score to 5-2. Jaqueline won her service, but she failed to take over two other chances of breaking, losing the match.

Romania remained without representatives on the main simple panel in Rome. In the eighth, Shnaider will take place with the winner of the match Jessica Pegula – Elise Mertens.
