Fire in the Novosibirsk Zoo took the lives of five animals

A large fire occurred at night at the Novosibirsk Zoo, as a result of which five animals were killed. The fire began in two houses for the winter content of animals and covered an area of 180 square meters.
According to OM1 Novosibirsk, the zoo staff, together with firefighters, managed to save 24 animals, including spotted deer, Yakov, Nubian goats, a camel and porcupine. However, the cow is a black-haired, Scottish bull, two lamas and alpaca died.
More than 30 rescuers and 10 units of equipment worked on the spot. Open burning was eliminated to midnight. According to preliminary information of the prosecutor's office, the cause of the fire could be the emergency mode of operation of electrical equipment.
The director of the zoo said that nothing threatens animals now, temporary fences are being installed. The zoo will continue to work in normal mode. The prosecutor's office began checking compliance with fire safety rules.
