Ukraine creates a new type of units – assault troops

The Ukrainian general staff announced the creation of new types of units – assault troops, which are to be a response to changes in the ways of war with Russia.

– In the fourth year of the full -frame war with Russian aggressors, the nature of combat operations changed, which is why the decision to create assault forces in the structure of Ukraine's armed forces in the structure – said spokesman for the General Staff of the Ukrainian army, Andriy Kowalow. He added that they are to be directed to actions on various sections of the front – where suddenly there is a threat of interruption of defense or loss of position.

– This is a quick response troops. Their main task is to quickly appear on the spot, enter the fight, destroy the opponent and regain lost positions – explained Kowalow. These forces are to carry out tasks depending on the needs, or otherwise than the other units that permanently maintain a given section of the front line.

An important element of their equipment is to be unmanned, and the tactics are to be based on the experiences collected during the fighting on the key sections of the front in the Sumsk, Kharkiv and Donetsk. (PAP)
