Heavy losses for the Russians. The Ukrainians destroyed an IMR-3M fighting machine, nicknamed the “Terminator on the Sideworks”, protected by radiation, helicopters and radars

A specialized unit of the Ukrainian army has announced the destruction of a heavy Russian genius vehicle, IMR-3M, a rare and well-protected equipment, commonly used to open roads in mining and extreme conditions. The vehicle, known among the Russian military as the “Terminator on tracks”, is equipped with protection against the effects of a nuclear attack.

The announcement was made by the 412 Regiment of Unmanned Nemesis systems, in a message published on social networks. According to the source, the Russian vehicle was recently destroyed on the eastern front, but the exact location was not made public.

IMR-3M is a genius fighting machine, designed to create color through mined fields or natural and artificial obstacles. It is equipped with a bulldozer type plow, a cannon and a protection against radioactive contamination. Although not a direct combat machine, IMR-3M plays an essential role in support of the terrestrial offensive, opening roads for armored and motorized troops.

Despite its strong armor and autonomous capabilities in dangerous ground, only two such vehicles have been visually confirmed as destroyed since the beginning of the Russian invasion. The last case had been reported more than a year ago.

This loss deepens the logistical problems of the Russian army, especially in the context in which Ukraine intensifies the attacks on the Russian military infrastructure in the occupied areas.

Radare and Russian helicopters, destroyed in Crimea

In another front of the confrontation, the Main Directorate of Military Information of Ukraine (Hur) announced on Sunday the destruction of several strategic equipment of the Russian army in the occupied Crimea. Among the targets targeted: three MI-8 helicopters and a 55zh6u type radar “Nebo-u”, considered one of the most expensive and advanced Russian air surveillance systems.

The announcement was accompanied by thermal images captured by drones, which capture the moment of the blow on the radar antenna and sequences with drones approaching helicopters stationed on a military basis.

Although the exact location of the attack was not specified, it is the second major episode in a systematic campaign to destroy the Russian equipment in the illegally attached peninsula in 2014. In the first days of September, Hur claimed the destruction of a 48ya6-K1 “podlet” radar and a RLM-M module in the “Nebo-M” system, in another Infrastructure.

The “Nebo-U” system was introduced into the 90s and is intended for aircraft detection, including those with stealth technology. Its exact cost is not known publicly, but the estimates vary: in April 2024, a radar of the same type was evaluated at about $ 100 million by the Ukrainian press, while the Russian press mentions a price of about $ 4.7 million for a modernized version.

At the same time, MI-8, one of the most widespread military helicopters produced by Russia, is used for transport of troops and equipment and can also have a fighting role, depending on the configuration. Costs vary depending on the version, but can reach several million dollars per unit.

Officials from the Ukrainian Marina said that the Russian Federation has carried out several anti -aircraft defense systems in Crimea than near the oil refineries in their own territory, a sign of the strategic importance of the peninsula.

Attacks on Crimea, resumed with intensity in recent months, indicate a clear strategy of undermining Russia's ability to control the region and design force in the Black Sea.
