Cristian Tudor Popescu wrote a brief comment, on Sunday, on the meeting that the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) will have on Wednesday on the Law on the pensions of the magistrates.

The newspaper has exhibited two scenarios that they see possible as an effect for the decision on Wednesday of the constitutional judges.

“Bolojan or God? If Wednesday CCR will reject the law that cuts the special pensions of the magistrates, Prime Minister Bolojan will resign. If Wednesday the CCR will approve the law, the Romanian justice, as a response to the damage, will clean it as the silver,”

The law was attacked at the High Court RCC

The law on the pensions of the magistrates counted among the five projects adopted by the Bolojan Government by assuming the liability on September 1, as part of the package 2 measures.

On September 4, the law was appealed to the RCC by the High Court of Cassation and Justice, which claims that “it was ignored, once again, the importance of the service pension in the economy of the principle of independence of justice”.

One day after engaging the Government liability on the measures package, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was asked by Hotnews in a press conference if he resigned if the draft law on the pensions of the magistrates will fall to the CCR.

“When you have an important project that is a milestone to make other similar decisions, if it does not pass, it is hard to assume that the government still has the legitimacy to come up with similar measures in other fields,” the Liberal replied.
