President Nicușor Dan declared on Sunday evening, on Romania TV, that his relationship with the PSD is a “very good” one since the social democrats accepted the formation of the governing coalition.
“It's no secret that we had a long history of tension with the PSD, especially at the local level, in Bucharest, but from the moment it agreed to form a coalition at the national level, I have a very good relationship with the PSD,” said the head of state.
“All discussions are reasonable. I interact with Mr. Grindeanu the most. I tell him my opinion, he tells me what is the perspective of the people he represents,” Nicușor Dan also said.
“I have also changed my position, I am no longer in Bucharest”
Asked if the PSD “has changed”, the president stated that he too is in a different position compared to the time he was in charge of the Capital City Hall. “I have also changed my position, I am no longer in Bucharest. I think that each of us is trying to fulfill the mandate that the citizens gave him. I do not think that they expect me to argue with the PSD or that Mr. Grindeanu's voters want to argue with me. So far we have each tried to carry out our mandate”, stated the leader from Cotroceni.
Relationship with USR: “From a human point of view, I am closer”
Asked about the relationship with USR, Nicușor Dan said that there is a natural closeness between him and the political formation.
“It's no secret that I had a very good relationship with USR all these five years at the Capital City Hall, so from a human point of view, if you like, I'm closer to USR,” said the president.
Regarding the support given to USR in the campaign for the elections in the Capital on December 7, the leader from Cotroceni denied that he would have a different involvement compared to the one assumed in other political contexts.
“I think we're looking at the same sites and I get the same ads, and it says 'you'll have a partner in me.' If you go back to the PNL Congress in the summer, you will see that at the end I told them exactly the same phrase”, President Nicușor Dan also declared.
