Archimandrite Climent Haralamb, who served seven decades at the Curtea de Argeş Monastery, died on Sunday, at the age of 102, the Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel announces.

“Archimandrite Climent Haralamb passed to God on Sunday, shortly after midnight, at the age of 102, his lifeless body being deposited in the Archbishop's Chapel at the Argeș Monastery”, informs the Archdiocese in a press release quoted by Agerpres.

Climent Haralamb was born in the town of Lunca in Botoşani county, on April 4, 1923, being the second of the family's seven children.

“He joined the community of the Cozancea Monastery as a young brother, in 1947, where the abbot at that time was the famous clergyman Paisie Olaru, towards whom he had a permanent spiritual admiration, keeping with sanctity the advice he received as a gift, and which he passed on to his spiritual sons, in the confessional. In 1948 he was ordained a monk, and in the following years ordained hierodeacon and hieromonk. The year 1953 finds him alive at the Cetățuia Monastery in Iaşi”, according to a post on the Facebook account of the Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel.

According to the same source, in 1953 he visited the Curtea de Argeş Monastery for the first time, serving together with Archbishop Pavel Şerpe, at whose request he returned definitively in 1956.

“Father Climent stood out as a good guide to Christ of many lost souls, being appreciated by many believers and clerics from Argeş, but also from other areas of the country, young people of all ages, as Father Patriarch Daniel often calls believers”, the post also mentions.

Archimandrite Climent Haralamb was awarded the Patriarchal Cross in 2023, for the seven decades of service to the relic of the Holy Martyr Filofteia.

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, starting at 12:00, at the Archbishop's Chapel.
