Russia is trying to undermine NATO coherence, but the exact opposite obtains, CNN Foreign Minister Oana Toiu told CNN, stating that he discussed with his Tallinn counterpart, Margus Tsahkna, about the intrusion of the three Russian planes into the Air Space of Estonia.
“We consider (the incident) to be intentional and we are clear about the fact that it is unacceptable,” Oana Ţoiu told CNN, quoted by News.ro. “Russia is trying to undermine NATO coherence, but I think the exact opposite gets. We are in close connection with each other,” she added.
“We see even more clearly that the decision we made at the Hague summit to increase the military expenses to 5 percent of GDP is the right decision and we accelerate our sanctions,” said the head of Romanian diplomacy.
“We have considered some of the incursions in the past to be potentially accidental. This time, 50 minutes into airspace is defined not an accident, and the drone was of Iranian-design so clearly not of the drones this ukrainian army has been using”-@oana_toiu pic.twitter.com/rqbrqqiyuw

“Russia has already violated Estonia's airspace this year, which is unacceptable. But today's foray, in which three fighter jets have entered our air space, is unprecedented,” said Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, quoted by CNN.
“The increasingly large testing of the limits and the increasing aggression of Russia must be encountered with a rapid increase in political and economic pressure,” said the head of Estone diplomacy.
Russia's ambassador to Estonia convened after incident
The Estonian Foreign Ministry has announced that it convened Russia's diplomatic representative in relation to the incident.
NATO intercepted three Russian aircraft on Friday that violated Estonia's airspace, the country's Foreign Ministry and a North Atlantic Alliance spokesman announced.
Three Russian MIG-31 fighter jets entered Friday without permission in the Estonian airspace over Finland's bay and remained there for 12 minutes. F-35 Italian fighter jets stationed in Estonia at the NATO Eastern Sentry (Eastern Santinela), along with Swedish and Finnish aircraft, responded to intrusion, and Russian planes were later “forced to escape”, as stated by Estonian Prime Minister Krisen Michal. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised the Alliance's response as “fast and decisive.”
Estonia has applied for consultations under Article 4 of NATO treaty following this “totally unacceptable” violation, prime minister Michal announced.
The North Atlantic Council will meet at the beginning of next week to discuss the incident in detail, said NATO spokesman Allison Hart.
Article 4 of the NATO Treaty stipulates that any member country may officially bring a problem to the attention of the Council, the main decision -making body of the Alliance, which meets and discusses the following steps when the territorial integrity, political independence or security of the member country are threatened.
Poland triggered such a consultation after several Russian drones entered its air space last week.
A few hours later after the Estonia incident, the Polish border police reported that two Russian fighter jets made a “low altitude flight” over a Baltic Sea oil platform, owned by Polish Petrobaltic Petrobaltic Company. “Polish security services constantly monitor the situation,” said the Border Police.
Moscow denied the incident announced by Tallin's authorities. The three Russian MIG-31 aircraft, which, according to Estonian and NATO authorities, violated Estonia's air space on Friday, made a scheduled flight from Karelia to the Kaliningrad region, and the Estonian airspace was not violated, the Russian Ministry of Defense, quoted by the Tass and News.ro.
The US President Donald Trump also reacted to the Estonia incident. He transmitted that the violation of the Estonian air space by Russia could cause “big problems” and that it will “analyze” the information on this case.
