Why are we writing about it?
The Korean scenario is the result of the war between North and South Korea in 1950–1953. His goal was to freeze the front line and create a demilitarized zone. The agreement on the demilitarized zone between North Korea and South Korea was signed on behalf of the UN forces by American general Marek Wayne Clark. He did it because the leaders on both sides of the front line could not be reconciled.
How does the President of Ukraine react to the proposal of the “Korean variant”?
Wołodymyr Zelnski rejected such a solution during a closed meeting with media representatives. – Our story is definitely different than with Korea. It was about ending the war without the final peace treaty. That's what they meant. And before we start talking about security guarantees – why Ukraine needs a security guarantee. It may happen that there will be no final document about the end of the war. That is why they say – for example, the President of France Macron – that security guarantees should not wait for the end of the war. And here I agree with him that, for example, a weapon suspension is enough to ensure security guarantees – emphasized Zelanski.
What else did the Ukrainian leader say?
– We can't waste time and wait for a clear agreement ending the war. We need security guarantee earlier. Nobody is considering the “Korean”, “Finnish” or any other model – said Zelanski.
Zelanski said that he intends to discuss security guarantees with US President Donald Trump at a meeting, which is to take place during the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
