About 600 residents of three regions of Australia were affected on Thursday night by a phone network that lasted at least ten hours, according to AFP, quoted by Agerpres.

The government of Australia accused the Optus telecommunications company of “abandoned Australians” on Saturday. Three people died after until they have access to emergency services. This is a six -week baby and a 68 -year -old woman from South Australia and another death in Western Australia.

The Australians were not helped “when they needed the most”, and “this is unacceptable,” Australia Minister Anika Wells said on Saturday.

“Optus and all telecommunications providers have obligations by virtue of the Australian law to guarantee calls to emergency services,” she said. The minister also announced that an investigation of the Communications Regulatory Authority is underway.

The company involved could be fined or support other legal sanctions. Optus was already convicted in 2023 to a fine of 12 million Australian dollars (about 6.7 million euros) after a wedge that interrupted mobile access to the Internet for 12 hours.
