The scenario for the elections in Bucharest that the PSD leader says can lead to the coalition breaking

A common USR-PNL candidate at the Capital City Hall would mean that “PSD is in a form of isolation in the coalition”, and in such a scenario there are “very high chances” to break the PSD-PNL-USR and UDMR governing alliance, said Sorin Grindeanu on Monday.

Grindeanu made these statements at the end of the meeting of the PSD leadership, in which he said he was also discussed about the elections for the City Hall and that the mayor of PSD of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, given in the first position in the opinion polls made by the course and published on Sunday.

“A great potential to throw the political scene”

He said that the PSD currently measures the intention to vote for several possible candidates, including Gabriela Firea, and this survey is not yet completed.

Asked if “there would be a chance to break the coalition” if PNL had a USR agreement on the Capital City Hall, Sorin Grindeanu replied: “It would mean that PSD is in a form of isolation in coalition which … at least to know how we are. There are very high chances to break the coalition.”

“We all remember that a year ago there was a common candidate who, no matter how much he had a PSD and PNL coalition, was not able to meet the confidence of Bucharest. We can make any kind of understanding in offices, but moving the votes from one side to another is not so simple. Grindeanu said about a possible common candidate of the entire coalition.

The interim leader of the PSD claimed that he does not want to discuss now about the elections for the Capital City Hall because “there would be a great potential to throw the political scene”: “I want to discuss them, not that we want to avoid these elections, the proof being that we have the best candidate at this time. When we discuss the coordinates. Excuse…. ”.

Asked by a journalist why PSD does not agree that the elections take place in the 90 -day tremor since the vacation of the job, as provided by the law and as the USR proposed, Grindeanu said that “not in this form the problem is posed”:

“I do not think this is the order we have at this time. Each time elections have been organized for the vacancies of presidents by county councils, mayors, in some localities, this term of 90 days has obviously exceeded. There are things that the Government, not the PSD, do not decide. Above the law, but the Government has the duties to organize or not elections ”.

However, the interim leader of the PSD claimed that he wants the current governing coalition to continue, as it is “the only variant at this time to make reforms and to carry Romania”:

“I believe that if we are not in the area where we have some coordinates, including for local elections, that we are not just talking about Bucharest, if we do not reach a constructive approach, there is a possibility to raise the tension very much.”
