The United States announced on Thursday that they have approved the sale of anti-tank grenades Javelin to Poland, the contract with a value of $ 780,000,000, AFP reports.

“The proposed transaction will support the foreign and national security policy of the United States, strengthening the security of a NATO ally representing a political and economic stability force in Europe,” the American Defense and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said.

The US State Department has approved the transaction and DSCA has sent a notification to the American Conngress, which will validate the decision.

For fear of Russian threat, Poland has launched in recent years a rapid modernization program, signing several armament purchase contracts, mainly with the United States and South Korea.

Poland will allocate 4.8% of GDP next year for defense expenses, in slight increase in the percentage of 4.7% allocated for the current year.
