The pilgrimage to the altar of the National Cathedral has ended. How many people crossed the threshold of the place / The new visiting schedule

The consecration of the National Cathedral allowed the faithful to enter the altar for 11 days. The representatives of the Patriarchate reported that between October 26 and November 5, 315,000 people worshiped in the National Cathedral.

The access of pilgrims to the Cathedral was allowed from the day of the consecration, on October 26, from 20:00, the place of worship being open including during the night. Initially, the place was to be closed to the public on October 31, but the Patriarchate extended the deadline until November 5, citing the large number of pilgrims.

The new visiting schedule

According to the Patriarchate, between November 6 and November 14, access to the Cathedral will be between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Afterwards, the Cathedral will be closed for the continuation of interior works (mosaic painting and installations). On November 30, 2025, the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, the Patron Saint of Romania and the National Cathedral, the Cathedral will be open for the Holy Liturgy (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.), and on December 1, the National Day of Romania, the Cathedral will be open for the Te-Deum (thanksgiving) service.

On December 2, the place of worship will be open for visiting for one day only. Between December 3-23, the Cathedral will be closed for the continuation of interior works.

Between December 24, 2025 and January 8, 2026, the Cathedral will be open for visits every day, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Seven years ago, more than 150,000 people came to the consecration of the altar of the National Cathedral, during the 8 days between November 25 and December 2, 2018, while access was allowed.
