The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announces on Wednesday that he is negotiating with the representatives of the European Commission to convince them to postpone the deadline for closing the charcoal power stations, after Romania had agreed to close these power stations until the end of this year.
Ivan said on Wednesday night, in a video message on Tiktok, that he has been trying to bring arguments to European officials for two months for two months, after, five years ago, Romania has completely assumed by coal mines and coal power stations by the end of 2025, writes News.ro.
The condition negotiated by the Romanian representatives then, adds the Minister of Energy, was for our country to receive important European funds to open new electricity production capacities.
“The billions of euros were received at the level of Romania, but the projects of gas power plants, which should replace the coal power stations, are still on paper. For this reason, today the Romanians have almost the highest price of electricity in Europe. Four months before using, theoretically, these capacities of electricity on the coal Bogdan Ivan.
“The very clear condition that I assume”
He believes that if Romania gives up the energy production capacities on the coal, then the price of electricity will increase even more.
At the same time, Minister Bogdan Ivan argues that in this variant thousands of people will remain without jobs in both Oltenia and in the Jiu Valley.
“I hope from the heart that after we have made very clear arguments how important they are for Romania to keep these groups, the European Commission to understand and accept what we have proposed with very clear arguments and to postpone this term. The very clear condition that I assume is to put in place new capacities of electricity, and to have the electricity, and to have the electricity, Romania ”, added the Minister of Energy Bogdan Ivan.
