Former player and coach Florin Marin ceased his life on Thursday, at the age of 72, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and several clubs he activated, according to Agerpres announced.

“The Romanian Football Federation transmits the most sincere condolences to the family, friends and all those who met Florin Marin. His loss is a huge one for the football community in our country. Florin Marin died this evening after in the last two weeks he had been admitted to the Intensive Section,” the FRA of the therapy.

Born on May 19, 1953 in Bucharest, he played as a central defender, evolving for teams such as Rapid Bucharest, Steaua Bucureşti, FC Argeş, Gloria Buzău and Inter Sibiu. In the first step he accumulated over 280 matches in the championship, being also a member of the U21 national team.

Florin Marin played 174 games at Steaua Bucureşti, for which he evolved from 1976 until 1984, scoring three goals. He won a title and a cup of Romania in the Star T -shirt. He dressed five times and the shirt of the national team of Romania.

He was also a former head coach at the Under-21 national team and second coach at the first representative.

He also coached teams such as Rapid Bucharest, Constanta Lighthouse, Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ, FC National, Rocar Bucureşti, Craiova University, Dinamo Bucharest, Astra Ploieşti, Petrolul Ploieşti, Jiul Petrosani, Dacia Mioveni, Astra Giurgiu, Oţelul Galaţi, ACS Poli Timişoara.
