Denis Kapustin, known as WhiteRex, is the commander and founder of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), who fought on the side of Ukraine in the war with Russia. Previously, Kapustin was active in street groups and fandom, and also founded the White Rex brand. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he moved to Ukraine and has headed the RDK since 2022. At the beginning of its activities, the RDK acted independently, and then coordinated its participation in hostilities as part of the Ukrainian forces.

In 2023, the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the Freedom of Russia Legion infiltrated the territory of the Russian Federation several times and carried out raids in the Belgorod region. They called on Russians to join the fight against the current regime. The legion said that they want to create a demilitarized zone in the Belgorod region, from where the Russian Federation will not be able to fire at Ukraine.
On March 12, 2024, RDK, “Freedom of Russia” and “Siberian Battalion” began another operation on the territory of the Russian Federation. They entered the Kursk and Belgorod regions. The Freedom of Russia Legion stated that it used tanks during the breakthrough into the Kursk region. According to Russian oppositionist Ilya Ponomarev, this is the first raid carried out by the RDK and Freedom of Russia together with the Siberian Battalion, three groups at once.
Russian volunteers conducting combat operations in the regions of the Russian Federation bordering Ukraine have demonstrated to other oppositionists that they can “get back what they have not only by talking, but also by actions,” noted the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
