Tony Da Silva (44 years old), the coach of Poli Iași, prefaced the match with Metal Buzău, from stage 7 of Liga 2. The Portuguese technician spoke about the problems from the team, which aims to return to Superliga.

Poli Iași comes after 3 matches without victory and is in 13th place, with 8 points, at 8 behind the leader, Corvin.

Tony da Silva: “I could work at UEFA or Manchester United, but I came here”

“When I first came, Poli was at a very difficult time and I saved the team. Now, hardly, everyone fled and I came here. I could stay home or work for UEFA, where I was earning more money. Either I went to Manchester United, in the staff of Ruben Amorim. I don't want that, I came hard! I knew about the difficulties of the club, I built a team from scratch. I sleep quietly.

No one throws the towel. I played at CFR a year with infiltration, with my foot broken, with the disaster knee. There is no crisis to us. The crisis is in Ukraine, where there is war! Don't wait for blood, we are united, confident.

On Saturday we go to victory, the boys know what to do tactically, in terms of ambition, responsibility, we are prepared one hundred percent. I am very convinced, very quiet, that the boys will show what they have in their heart, in their soul, because they are good boys.

The last match reached us a lot of pride, especially the boys. I had a meeting, I said clear things, face to face. I cannot say that they are bad boys or that they have no good soul. There are children who are missing from time to time a bit of maturity, responsibility.

It's a young team, no one has children in the locker room. Defeats are painful. I do not want to hear any excuse, because I had many players with Covid, that the coach was not on the bench. With excuses we are not successful. I had all my life success, professional and human.

At every team there are not only days of glory, they are sadder days. It is important how we get up. The boys have the opportunity to improve the things that were less well done.

On Saturday, with the metal, we have the opportunity to change the negative things. I know what dedication means, to fight, to be ambitious. I can understand the technical mistakes, the lack of maturity, but I do not accept not to fight, not to be ambitious. Because I am so, very ambitious, hardworking.

I arrive in the morning at the stadium and I leave the evening, I work for this team, I sacrifice a long time, I lost the family because of football. Football gave me a lot but took me a lot“, Tony Da Silva said, in the press conference preceding the match with Metalul Buzau.
