The Rabla program for 2026 could be cancelled, given that, at the moment, there is no identified budget for it, the Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, announced on Tuesday, according to Agerpres.
“At the moment, the AFM (Environmental Fund Administration, no) budget has not yet been made. I publicly expressed my preference, although I understand the need for several types of projects. It is clear that next year the priority will have to be the completion of projects from the PNRR, a significant part of the projects from the PNRR, which have lost their funds, financing, will be moved to the AFM.
At the same time, we have a discussion as possible so that, in case we still find a budget for Rabla next year, but at the moment we do not have this budget identified yet, it will be additional with some conditions that have not been applied until this year. For example, I support the application of the Rabla program for cars produced in Europe. There is no longer a version of European funds for the following year, but at the moment there is no identified budget for the Rabla program', said Diana Buzoianu, at the 7th edition of the Romanian International Energy Conference (RIEC) 2025, organized by the Energy Employers' Federation (FPE).
The minister emphasized that the priority will be the infrastructure projects already underway.
“We will have to have a serious discussion for thinking about the budget for next year of the AFM. From my point of view, priority will be given to projects that have already started to be worked on, that is, we are talking about water, canal, works that already exist in the field, construction sites that have already been opened, that cannot be postponed. If they were blocked, we risk losing the respective contracts as well, we risk having communities that could have water and sewage in 2 years or in a year of days, and no longer have these minimal services, which are absolutely essential. We are talking about projects of voluntary input, which help us with the targets at the European level, including the infrastructure that did not exist for the collection of certain types of waste. The priority will be to cover the budget for these projects,” added the minister.
The Rabla Auto 2025 program for individuals benefited from a total budget of 200 million lei, from which the funds intended for new vehicles with internal combustion, motorcycles and those with a hybrid propulsion system were used up in the first stage, on September 30, 2025, in just 13 minutes after the launch. This result led to an increase in funds for this type of vehicle, based on increased interest from Romanians.
