British fighter jets will carry out air defense missions over Poland to counteract air threats, including drones from Russia, as part of the NATO mission “Eastern Sentry”, the British government announced on Monday according to Reuters.

The announcement comes after the incursion of last week of the 19 Russian drones into the Polish airspace.

Typhoon hunting aircraft of British Royal Air Force (RAF) will join allied forces, including Denmark, France and Germany, to strengthen NATO's defense and discouragement along its eastern flank, the London government says in a statement.

These fighter jets will fly in the coming days in missions above Poland, added the executive led by Labor Keir Starmer.

After the incident related to the penetration of Russian drones in Poland, the North Atlantic Alliance announced on Friday that it is launching the “Eastern Sentry” operation (“East Santinel”) by which it strengthens the defense of the eastern flank, providing including allied planes.

The operation will involve the coordination and integration of ground and air forces so that the response to threats is fast and efficient. “Eastern Sentry will be flexible and agile. It will integrate the air bases and from the ground will strengthen the alliance's posture to protect the Allied territory,” said American General Alexus G. Grynkewich, who is the supreme commander of the Allied forces in Europe (Saceur).

General Grynkewich said that the order on the launch of the operation has already been launched so that a complete and integrated protection is ensured.

“The operation will be carried out immediately, under my command,” Grynkewich added. In addition to the military capabilities already made available by France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Denmark, the contribution of other states is expected.

On Monday night, asked about the operation “Eastern Sentry”, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, said, in an interview with Antena 3 CNN: “There is the availability to strengthen the eastern flank. It is also a technical discussion in which to see how much each country can contribute to the Eastern Flank to strengthen it.

Moscow has spread its military power with hypersonic rockets and bombers

Russia announced this Sunday that it has launched a hyper-zircon hypersonic cruise missile on a large bargain target and that Suhoi Su-34 supersonic fighter aircraft have performed attacks with Belarus common military exercises, Reuters and Agerpres have previously reported.

Russia's common strategic exercise with Belarus started on September 12, aiming to improve the military order and coordination in the event of an attack on Russia or Belarus, the Ministry of Defense of Moscow said.

Authorities in Moscow and Minsk have said that exercises are exclusively defensive and that they do not intend to attack any NATO member, although the US military alliance has announced the “Eastern Sentry” operation after the recent Ruse drones into Poland.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has published images with the Golovko amiral frigate of the northern fleet while launching a zircon hypersonic rocket on a target in the sea. The images showed a rocket launched vertically on the frigate.

“According to the data monitoring data received in real time, the target was destroyed by a direct blow,” the Ministry of Moscow said.

The ministry said that anti -submarine aircraft with a long range of the mixed aviation body of the northern fleet were also involved in the exercise. The same source mentioned that Su-34 crews practiced a bombing on terrestrial targets.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in 2019 that the Zircon rocket can fly at a speed nine times higher than that of sound and can hit the sea and land at a distance of over 1,000 km (600 miles).

Sources of the Russian media say that the rocket, known as the 3m22 zircon in Russia and SS-N-33 of NATO, has an action range of 400 km to 1,000 km, and its focus mass is about 300-400 kg.
