Ștefan Pălărie, the leader of USR senators, told Parliament on Monday that the Government is expected to set the election date for the Capital City Hall as soon as possible, in the context in which the PSD claims that the elections should be organized in the spring.

USR Senator Stefan Pălărie says that the Government can start the steps to organize the elections for the Capital City Hall, now that “I have concluded the vast majority of package 2 measures and the package 1 of fiscal measures”.

“It is a matter of moral obligation, but by law. It is a totally unhealthy idea that the organization of elections for any city in the country will be made, based on political calculations,” said hat.

He says that USR is waiting for future government meetings, “among the first”, the date for elections will be set. “After that you can discuss other statements, political strategies and so on,” the hat continued, referring to the possibility that each party in the coalition will have a separate candidate.

The statements come in the context in which at the last meeting of PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR leaders, the Social Democrats threatened to break the coalition if PNL and USR will have a common candidate and will organize elections before spring.

“It is unnatural, and Bucharest knows it, a coalition between PSD and USR. I do not think it has to exist. Think about how different visions are.

The candidate at the town hall, reason to quarrel in the coalition

Last week, when the PSD presented a series of proposals “for economic relaunch”, Sorin Grindeanu said again that he agrees that each party in the coalition should have their own candidate, but also with a common candidate of all. Grindeanu, however, refuses the possibility of USR and PNL support a single candidate.

“It is not about the date of the elections, but about this coalition – whether we want to go further. It has no problem if each part of this coalition considers it appropriate to designate its own candidate, to outline their program. We also do not oppose a common candidate. But to have an alliance of two parties, which can take this part of the PSD. Coalition, ”said Sorin Grindeanu, last week, at the PSD headquarters.

He was asked if he knew if there is already an agreement between the Liberals and the USR on a common candidate, and the answer was: “We are forecast”.

“The elections in Bucharest represent a point that we must overcome, if we want to continue in the coalition,” explained the interim leader of the PSD.
