An astrologer was arrested for provoking “public panic” in a video on Tiktok

A few weeks after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 killed thousands of people in Myanmar, an astrologer made Tik Tok “a prediction” after which he was arrested, according to the BBC.
Astrologer John Moe The The Clip on Tik Tok on April 9 in which he warned that an earthquake would “hit every city of Myanmar” on April 21. “People should not stay in tall buildings during the day,” the astrologer said, although experts are clear that earthquakes are impossible to predict.
Also, the astrologer who has over 300,000 followers on Tik Tok, urged people to “take important things and run from buildings during the earthquake.”
On the day the man said it would be the earthquake, many of the people who were watching him believed in what he said and left the houses.
The astrologer was arrested during a raid at his house in Sagaing, the center of Myanmar. He is accused of making “false statements with the intention of provoking public panic,” the Burma authorities announced.
The 7.7 earthquake took place in Myanmar on March 28 and caused the death of 3,500 people and massive damage.
