Currently, there are no grounds to talk about the national blackout in winter, but in some regions of Ukraine there may be local interruptions in electricity supply and there are threats to heat supply – said the director of the Energy Research Center (EIR) Oleksandr Khaczenko.

“Can several concentrated waves (Russian) attacks, primarily on heat energy, lead to unpleasant consequences for us? Perhaps. At the same time I see no grounds to talk about any nationwide Blackouts,” said Charchenko quoted by the Ukrinform agency.

The expert pointed out that ROSIJA attacks on specific energy facilities can lead to electricity exclusions in individual regionshowever, the energyists restore power within a few hours.

According to Charcheczka, the biggest threat is possible attacks on heating facilities, especially in cities located near the front. Therefore, local authorities should secure reserve power sources and prepare emergency heat supply diagrams.

Khaczenko believes that cities such as the crooked corner, catfish, Kharkiv, Mikołajów and Odessa are particularly vulnerable to problems in the heating season.

Risks also apply to Kievwhich – according to the head of EIR – depends on his own heat and power plant. Earlier it was reported that the infrastructure of the main sectors was prepared for the heating season in over 80 percent.

Over the past few weeks, Russian troops have resumed massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, thus exerting pressure on Ukrainian society.

On the night of Saturday to Sunday, Russia fired a record number of 805 drones and 13 rockets towards Ukraine – they passed the air forces. On Sunday, the premiere of Ukraine Julia Swyrydenko informed that for the first time the Russian attack damaged the headquarters of the government in Kiev. (PAP)
