Washington has suspended indefinitely “his strategic dialogue” with Kosovo, considering that he is obstructed by the recent “actions and destabilizing statements of the prime minister of the Balkan Country, the nationalist Albin Kurti, informs EFE, taken by Agerpres.

The announcement was made on Friday by the United States Embassy in Pristina, in a statement that expressed “concerns related to the actions of the interim government that increased tensions and instability”.

Although it does not specify to what actions it refers concretely, in charge of business of the American diplomatic mission, Anu Prattipati, referred, in statements for the portal 'Koha', to a verbal attack by Prime Minister Kurti to the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, in which he accused him of functioning as an under-covered agent.

This is the reaction of the prime minister to the decision of the High Court to block the activities of the deputies in the Parliament until the end of the month, while analyzing a complaint filed by the Serbia list (the main party of the Serbian minority) for alleged irregularities in the vice -presidents of the Chamber.

The temporary measure blocks the procedure for the formation of the new government resulting from the general elections of February in which the Movement for Self -Determination (LVV) of Kurti managed to stay in the first place, but lost the absolute majority.

Currently, with only 48 of the 120 parliamentary places, it has difficulty in obtaining the support of other formations, which has made the appointment of the President of Parliament for months, a prior and essential step for the formation of the new executive.

Washington believes that the attitude of Prime Minister Kurti and his team limits “the ability of the United States to collaborate productively with Kosovo in common priorities.”

“Our relationship with Kosovo is based on a common objective: strengthening peace and stability as a basis for mutual economic prosperity,” the American embassy points out, regretting that the actions of the government chief have “obstructed the progress made for many years.”

The press release recalls that the strategic dialogue “aimed to strengthen the economic and diplomatic ties for the benefit” of both peoples.

At the end of August, the EU decided to temporarily freeze the official meetings with Kurti and ministers in his government at the Government headquarters, considering that he did not comply with a decision of the Supreme Court and, therefore, violated the rule of law.
