The low-cost airline that introduces an additional cost after the price of kerosene. Those who have already bought a ticket will also pay it

A Spanish airline has introduced an additional cost in the price of plane tickets, motivated by the increase in the price of kerosene. The decision also affects those who paid for their trip in advance.
Volotea, a low-cost airline from Spain, started sending messages to those who bought plane tickets in advance that they have to pay 14 euros more, reports the correspondent of the Radio Romania Actualitați station, quoted by Rador. And these 14 euros represent “price adjustments due to fuel”.
The situation is apparently hopeless for travelers, because if they don't pay the amount within 48 hours of the notification they can't get on the plane, the quoted source writes.
For those who get their tickets now, the situation is similar. They pay a price, but are warned that there may be an additional payment at the time of the flight, depending on how much kerosene costs at the time.
From the airline's statement it appears that this measure is implemented to reduce costs generated by the price increases brought by the conflict in Iran and that this method of sale is within the limits of the law. The term used is “promise of fair price”, which replaces the term “sale”. That would also imply the right to ask for more money. Spain's consumer rights agency is now checking whether the law is being broken.
