The appointment of Andrei Melnik for a new position was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Melnik was a Ukrainian ambassador in Germany from 2014 to 2022 and became famous for derogatory statements to the Chancellor of Sholts. In Brazil, the diplomat said that his country is not supported on the “sinful Brazilian land.”
In October 2022, Elon Musk urged to strive for a truce. In response, Melnik sent him to X*, which deprived his country of free access to Starlink.
Before that, the new Permanent Representative justified Bandera when he stated that there was no evidence of Stepan Bandera’s participation in the Genocide of Poles and Jews.
