Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and the British concern BAE Systems signed a contract on Friday, under which Bae, among others It will provide the Polish reinforcement with the technologies needed for the production of modern 155 mm artillery ammunition.
The contract was signed at the headquarters of Dezamet, i.e. one of the producers of ammunition under PGZ.
A radical increase in the production of 155 mm caliber ammunition – i.e. the basic artillery caliber of NATO countries, needed, among others For the cannabis Krab and K9 – this is currently a key task of Polish arms, related to, among others with observations regarding the huge consumption of this type of ammunition during fights in Ukraine.
Increasing the production of ammunition is to build three new factories, in which key producers from the Polish arms group – including nitro -chem, but also Mesko, Dezamet and Gamrat – will invest. At the end of last year, a special act was adopted, pursuant to which arms companies can receive a total of PLN 3 billion from the Ministry of National Defense for this type of investment.
Tusk: Poland is a sovereign producer of ammunition
The head of government assured during a press conference that thanks to the agreement belonging to PGZ Dezamet, he would have the most modern ammunition technology that will increase and accelerate the production of 155 mm missiles.
In the context of the contract, Tusk also emphasized that Poland is a sovereign producer of ammunition. – We have this technology for a long time, this notice period is 40 years, so the possibility of having this technology is actually permanent – said the prime minister.
He added that this is also associated with the possibility of possible sale of surplus ammunition for those willing. (PAP)
To produce artillery ammunition of the NATO caliber, you also need access to appropriate technologies, which Polish companies currently cannot be provided by foreign partners with experience in this industry. (PAP)
