The closing of all border crossings with Belarus was announced on Tuesday by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. As he explained, this is related to the Russian-Belarusian “Zapad-2025” exercises starting on Friday. The purpose of suspending traffic at border crossings with Belarus is to protect the security of the Polish border, which is also the external border of the European Union and NATO.

– This decision is temporary. The safety of Polish women and Poles is a priority for us. We will open the transitions when we are sure that the situation does not pose any threat to us – said the Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński.
