Section 3 of the Sibiu – Piteşti highway is advancing, and over 900 people and about 200 machines and equipment are mobilized on the site, the representatives of the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRDP) informed on Wednesday.

“Romania will have, for the first time, a highway tunnel made with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) technology, on the Cornetu -Tigveni group of section 3 Sibiu -Pitesti. This project is also the first highway batch on the administration radius of DRDP Craiova. Over 900 people and about 200 machines and equipment are currently mobilized”DRDP Craiova representatives transmitted.
According to the quoted source, at the Piteşti portal the tests for the test anchorages are performed, and the excavation works and the installation of the more than 170 necessary anchors will begin.
At the same time, the prefabricated segments factory is mounted for the tunnel galleries – a decisive step for starting the actual drilling.
“In the two site organizations, from Cepari and Racoviţa, the concrete beams needed for the art works on this lot, in each of the organizations, the entrepreneur, Webuild, have mounted concrete stations, over 37% of this section being structures” are executed.DRDP Craiova also transmitted.
The construction of section 3 of the Sibiu -Pitesti Highway (A1) is financed by the Transport Program (PT) and must be completed until 2028.
