Russia's newest attack in Ukraine caused Poland to mobilize its own air defense and NATO systems on Wednesday to break down drones in its airspace.
It is for the first time, from the beginning of the war, when Warsaw has been involved in the conflict in the neighboring country, calling the violation of its air space as an act of aggression.
General Lieutenant in retreat Ben Hodges, former commander of American armed forces in Europe, said that the number of Russian drones into NATO's airspace “clearly shows that these are intentional tests of NATO and National Air Defense Systems.”
“We have to be able to respond effectively every time,” Hodges told Reuters, adding: “We could certainly do more.”
The Radians of the Polish army found at least drones that violated the national airspace. The police have announced that it has found a unmanned flight device in a locality 25 km from the Belarus border.
