Meeting on the effects of the explosion in Rahova. Distrigaz will resume gas supply to the surrounding blocks

The Prefect of the Capital made new clarifications on Sunday about the measures taken by the authorities after the explosion that took place on Friday morning in a block of flats in the Rahova district, saying that “the situation remains dynamic, and all the forces involved are acting operatively for the complete management of the effects generated by this event”.

Prefect Andrei Nistor announced that Distrigaz will resume gas supply to the blocks in the area.

“The Committee of the Municipality of Bucharest for Emergency Situations voted, this evening, for Distrigaz to take care of resupplying the surrounding blocks with gas, as the supply was temporarily stopped to them as well”, the official said, on Sunday, in a post on Facebook.

He said that the integrated coordination group, made up of the Capital's police, gendarmes and firefighters from ISUBIF, continued “support activities for the affected people” on Sunday.

According to the prefect, these activities include: maintaining the security perimeter; controlled access to apartments for the recovery of personal property; picking up damaged vehicles; support for drawing up the necessary documentation for repairs; interventions for the cleaning of facades, removal of shards and knockdowns, to facilitate subsequent interventions and the safety of tenants.

“The situation remains dynamic, and all the forces involved are acting operatively for the complete management of the effects generated by this event. At the same time, the public authorities, together with NGOs and volunteers, carry out activities of social assistance, accommodation, cleaning the area, extermination and guidance of the affected people”, added the prefect of the Capital, Andrei Nistor.

Three people died and 20 were injured in an explosion that occurred on Friday morning in a block of flats in the Rahova district, in Sector 5 of the capital. The building had 108 apartments in which about 400 people lived.
