The National Operator for Radioactive Waste Management (but RAO), the company of the Rosatom State Corporation, held the first action in its practice to replenish biological resources in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
In the Yenisei in the Shushensky district, more than 92 thousand mocks of Harius were released, fed to a weight of 1 grams to increase survival. The event was under the control of the Yenisei Territorial Directorate of Rosrybolovstvo.
“Participation in the burden of Yenisei is a significant event for us. The event is consonant with the mission of our enterprise to ensure environmental acceptability of nuclear energy. It is extremely important for us not only to guarantee safety when handling radioactive waste, but also to minimize the environmental impact at all stages of the implementation of significant infrastructure projects, ” – The general director of “But RAO” Sergey Deryabin noted.
A scientific expert of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society, candidate of biological sciences Julia Koval also spoke about the importance of the action.
“The Siberian Harius is important for the Yenisei River due to its environmental role and economic use. The habitat and stable reproduction of this type of fish in the Yenisei basin is of great importance for the entire ecosystem and fishing, ”she shared Koval.
The company annually increases the costs of environmental activities – in 2024 they amounted to 839.9 million rubles, which is 8.4 % more than in the previous year. Environmental monitoring includes more than 4000 research annually, of which about 1900 are conducted in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The share of emissions of pollutants “but RAO” into the atmosphere of the region does not exceed 0.0007 % of the total volume in the region.
