Diana Şoșoacă, about the censure motion against Bolojan: “AUR is the child of PSD”

In a first reaction after the announcement of the social democrats and the representatives of the formation led by George Simion regarding the submission of a joint motion of censure, the president of SOS Romania, Diana Șoșoacă, made it clear that her party is not willing to support the parliamentary approach and stated that “AUR is PSD's child”.
She claimed that the closeness between PSD and AUR is determined by the intention of SOS Romania to submit its own motion of censure against the Bolojan government, on Monday, April 27.
“The ASDUR, AUR-PSD coalition, which I have been talking about for months and years. I tell you that AUR is PSD's child. Because I announced that SOS Romania will collect signatures today, April 27, 2026, when we submit the motion, PSD and AUR have decided to show that they are together, lest they hear from SOS Romania and Diana Șoșoacă!”, wrote the leader of SOS Romania, in a message published on her page Facebook.
Diana Sosoacă then launched harsh accusations, claiming that she was being “put” in prison, without providing evidence.
“Exactly what I expected! Once again I ruined their plans! How can they not lift my immunity and put me in prison, when since I've been in politics, I've ruined all their plans,” the president of SOS Romania also wrote in her message.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacșu (PSD) and number 2 in AUR, Petrișor Peiu, announced on Monday that the two parties will write and submit a joint motion of censure against the government led by the liberal Ilie Bolojan.
“Following several rounds of discussions with the party leaders, it was decided that Mr. Petrișor Peiu and I would deal with the technical side of a joint censure motion. That is why we are here today. The thing we will deal with is exclusively technical. The political approach will probably be explained during this day by the party presidents. As you know, we have convened a National Political Bureau at 2:00 p.m. where the decision will be made final. (…) Both parties will be initiators. Moreover, I spoke with Mr. Peiu, I am convinced that the leaders of our parties will agree, to make an appeal to all parliamentarians who want to contribute to the motion by signing and voting”, said Neacșu, at the Parliament Palace, in a joint conference with the leader of the AUR senators.
The leader of AUR, George Simion, said on Monday, shortly after the announcement made by Neacșu and Peiu, that he will submit the motion if he collects 233 signatures, the number of votes needed to bring down the Bolojan government.
Neacșu avoided ruling out a possible PSD-AUR government. Asked if the censure motion is a step towards this possibility, the former deputy prime minister replied that “every road begins with the first step. For now, we are facing this step”.
The AUR leader did not rule out a government with the PSD either.
“We are willing to ensure any government that can generate fair elections. We did not have fair elections in 2024 and 2025. Dan has not done his duty, he has not presented any report regarding the annulment of the elections. The first step we are taking to achieve our political goals is to pass this no-confidence motion. Let's see that everyone keeps their word,” said Simion, in a press conference.
