The expedition conducted on the territory of the Sayano-Shushensky reserve with grant support for the Russian Geographical Society brought valuable photos and videos of the everyday life of the Irbis family-females named Tajichka and two of its kittens born in 2024.
“In early summer, the kittens turned a year. The family of snow leopards is regularly recorded by the features, falling into the lens mainly at twilight. Young Irbis look healthy and well -fed, actively explore the territory of the reserve, while under the supervision of their mother. Currently, the preparation of passports on young individuals and determining their gender is underway, ”said Roman Afanasyev, senior researcher, Roman Afanasyev.
Foglovushki captured the moments of the carefree fun of young Irbis. Despite the fact that the younger kittens almost reached adult sizes, their playful mood remains indefatigable: they will be hidden in an ambush to suddenly attack each other, then they will start with the excitement after, then they check with curiosity for the strength of the photoreist.
The collected materials will become an integral part of further scientific research aimed at passporting and detailed study of young individuals.
