About 3 months after the elimination, the France goalkeeper revealed that he received threats on social media because of the defeat.

“It's just football, it's a game. You can be disappointed, angry, but hate has no business here. What happened last summer is unacceptable. Yes, I even received death threats, after matches with the national team and at the club. Then I didn't know what I could do. I reported on Instagram, but nothing happened

I received a GIF clip of a person being decapitated, and the message said the same thing would happen to me. People who send things like this don't understand that behind a phone is a human being with feelings.

That message left me in shock for several weeks. I was thinking: how is it possible for someone to tell you that they are going to take your life?”, she said, according to L'Equipe.

The club Pauline Peyraud-Magnin plays for is Juventus. She joined the team from Italy in 2021, after a season spent at Atletico Madrid.

Pauline Peyraud-Magnin: “I'm losing money on bets and it's draining the players”

The goalkeeper believes that one of the reasons why this happens may be the frustration caused by losing some betting tickets.

“The reasons can be multiple, some are frustrated, others lose money on bets and take it out on the players. In other cases, it's simply gratuitous hate. In any situation, it's not acceptable,” she added, according to the quoted source.

These people forget that we are human beings too. We have families, we have emotions, we make mistakes like everyone else. Football is passion, not war. If a team loses, it doesn't mean you have to destroy a person on the internet.
I believe that firm action must be taken. Let the accounts be identified, punished, and the platforms be forced to react. For now, not much is happening. You report something, but the messages stay there. That has to change
