The Russian forces intended to launch a major offensive in the direction of the Zaporojie region, but Kiev's troops prevented the operation, September 8, September 8, said, General Oleksandr Sîrskîi.

The statement came after the warning launched by Sîrskîi in August, according to which Russia is massaging troops for a new offensive in this southern region of Ukraine, partially occupied, The Kyiv Independent notes.

The Moscow army currently occupies about 70% of the Zaporojie region, but the regional capital – the city of the same name – is still under the control of Kiev.

According to General Sîrskii, in addition to the large-scale offensive in the direction of Zaporojie, Russia was preparing operations in the direction of Novopavlivka, from the Orihiv district, and intended to pierce and circle the Ukrainian forces in the area of Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad.

“However, our troops prevented the implementation of these plans. The Russians were forced to postpone the offensive in the Zaporojie region and to redistribute the marine units (Marini forces, no) in the Donetk region,” said Sîrskîi.

Sîrskîi added that the main efforts of the Russian army are currently concentrating on the directions of Lîman, Dobropillea and Pokrovsk in the Donetk region, as well as on the direction of Novopavlivka, located at the intersection of the regions of Zaporojie, Donetk and Dniproperovsk.

“The enemy uses a tactic of advancement by” infiltration “with small infantry groups, trying to infiltrate in populated areas, exploiting the gaps between positions and avoiding direct struggles,” said the head of the Ukrainian army, in a statement published on Facebook in which he balanced August.

During an informative session of August 29, President Volodimir Zelenski echoed to Sîrskîi's accuracy, saying that the situation in the direction of Zaporojie “remains unchanged”, although the Russian army gathers aeropurted troops in that sector of the front.

The Zaporojie region, located in the southeast of Ukraine, is adjacent to the Dnipropetrovsk region to the north, the Donetk region to the east and the Herson region to the southwest. Also, here is the Zaporojie nuclear power plant, occupied by Russian forces since the first months of the war, this being the largest nuclear facility in Europe.
