Ukrainian Drone Strikes Kill Civilians in Russia Following Mall Attack

Russian officials reported on Saturday that a series of overnight Ukrainian drone strikes resulted in the deaths of at least eight civilians, with significant damage inflicted on a warehouse operated by retailer Ozon and an industrial center in the Samara region.
This surge in strikes followed Russian attacks on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, the birthplace of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where at least 16 people were killed and over 130 injured during Friday’s assault.
Vladimir Fedorishchev, the governor of the Samara region, confirmed that an elderly woman was killed in a strike on Novokuibyshevsk. He reported via Telegram that the Ukrainian assault had caused damage to industrial facilities.
The Ukrainian military announced that they targeted the city’s oil refinery, causing a fire to erupt.
Ozon Targeted After Weeks of Ukrainian Strikes on Wildberries
Ozon, Russia’s second-largest online retailer, stated on Telegram that operations at its logistics center in the city of Chapayevsk, Samara region, were halted following the attack, which also resulted in injuries.
This incident marks the first attack on Ozon after weeks of Ukrainian drones targeting its larger competitor, Wildberries, as part of a broader campaign aimed at disrupting the economic infrastructure supporting Russia’s war efforts against Ukraine.
In Krasnodar, in southern Russia, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev reported that three individuals, including two children, were killed in a strike on the port city of Yeysk by the Sea of Azov, where a fire broke out at a facility in the port.
The governor of Belgorod, a Russian region bordering Ukraine, reported that Ukrainian attacks had killed two people and injured 13 others.
Meanwhile, four individuals were reported injured in Bryansk, another border region, according to the local governor.
In Luhansk, an eastern province under Russian control, the Moscow-installed governor Leonid Pasechnik stated that two civilians, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed and nine others injured in the strikes.
