The Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who died on Thursday, at the age of 91, will be buried on Monday afternoon at a private ceremony, in the presence of the family, in a village in northern Italy, local authorities announced, according to AFP.
“The private funeral of Giorgio Armani will take place in the small church in San Martino, located in the medieval village of Rivalta”, about one hundred kilometers south of Milan, the Castle Association in the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza and Pontremol announced on Sunday.
Giorgio Armani went regularly to this little commune, where his mother's tomb is located.
The area will be closed “for security reasons and to guarantee the confidentiality of the funerals, provided for local time 15:30 (13:30 GMT),” the association added in a statement published on its Facebook page.
The group told AFP that its stores will be closed on Monday, from 3:00 pm to the end of the day, in mourning.
The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, also announced a day of mourning in the Italian economic capital for Monday.
On Sunday, thousands of people continued to come to pay a last tribute to the fashion designer Teatro Armani from Via Bergognone in Milan, where he is the coffin with Giorgio Armani's inanimate body.
Among them were personalities such as former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, composer Ludovico Einaudi, President Napoli FC Aurelio de Laurentiis or tennis players Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta.
The imposing crowns of roses were deposited at the entrance to the room where the coffin is located, surrounded by flashlights placed on the floor.
From Hollywood stars to politicians, many personalities have paid tribute to the fashion designer, a fashion symbol, who built an empire in the luxury industry.
