During a meeting with Putin on August 15, in Alaska, which Trump called “warm”, a red carpet was laid before the illegitimate Russian president. The negotiations lasted three hours and concerned, in particular, the war in Ukraine, but they did not reach the end of the war.
Zelensky expressed regret that there was no Ukraine at this meeting.
“I think that President Trump gave Putin what he wanted. He really wanted to meet with President Trump, with the President of the United States, and Putin achieved this. It is a pity that Putin does not want to meet me, but he really wants to meet the President of the United States to show everyone the video and the image that he is there,” said Ukrainian.
Context
After meeting with Putin in Alaska, as well as with Zelensky and European leaders in Washington Trump declared the need to meet Putin and Zelensky. After that, the Kremlin put forward the conditions, the media note that Moscow can delay or evade negotiations.
At a press conference, Putin, following a visit to China, said on September 3 that he allegedly did not see the point in meeting Zelensky, but did not reject it. He said: “If Zelensky is ready, let him come to Moscow, such a meeting will take place.” The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andrei Sibiga noted that the Kremlin puts forward “consciously unacceptable proposals”, and emphasized that at least seven countries are ready to meet the meeting of Zelensky and Putin. Zelensky himself in response invited Putin to come to Kyiv.
