A tragic hippo attack. Drowned by women and children

The hippo attacked the boat on the vast Lake Buyo, which is part of the Sassandra River, one of the largest ivory on the coast.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Minister for National Cohesion, Solidarity and the Fight with Poverty, Logboh Myss Belmonde Dogo, an attack that occurred on Friday was survived by only three people. The ineffective search for other people lasted until Sunday.
This is the second such tragedy that took place this year in the waters of the ivory coast. In April, at least twelve children from the village of Tiaha in the Dabou department died when the boat turned over during a return from a trip organized by the local church.
On the ivory coast, mainly in the southern part of the country, there are currently about 500 hippos, which as a species threatened with extinction are under strict protection. Research conducted in this country in 2022 prove that the hippopotam is the most frequently mentioned animal responsible for causing death or injuries in humans. On average, hypopotamas are killed by an average of 500 people throughout Africa.
